The Alliance Française of Lagos hosted a private screening of the first episode of Showmax's Nigerian Original drama series, Flawsome, on Thursday, November 11, 2022.
The showing was a component of the 11th Africa International Film Festival's events.
Among those present to celebrate the 13-part drama series' premiere were director Tola Odunsi, cast members Enado Odigie, Bisola Aiyeola, Sharon Ooja, Gabriel Afolayan, Iretiola Doyle, Baaj Adebule, Shine Rosman, and Shawn Faqua, as well as media personality Victoria Eze (Miz Vick).
"I feel lost for words," director Tola Odunsi stated after the screening. I'm glad that everyone is now able to view this gorgeous work that we've published. We wanted to tell a more in-depth story that explored the issues that women face in life.
The Flawsome cast members Enado Odigie, Bisola Aiyeola, and Sharon Ooja discussed their favorite parts of being on set together during the Q&A session. They frequently talked about instances that were so emotionally charged that they cried afterward.
"No one knows the secret to life, and the friendships among the women of Flawsome are what keep them going. Bisola Aiyeola emphasized the significance of having close friendships with whom one can share experiences and draw inspiration.
Ivie's actress Sharon Ooja stated Flawsome "showed us that you may have fantastic friendships and have a close group that will honestly support you without criticism," elaborating on the strong relationships they have. It was fantastic to film with two of my closest friends. Having each other's support was crucial, as Bisola noted.
Dolapo is very protective of the people she loves, and everyone deserves a friend like her, according to Enado Odigie when describing her character.
The premise was intriguing, and seeing that it was a Showmax Original sparked my curiosity as I wanted to experience what the platform has to offer, said Gabriel Afolayan when asked what he thought after reading the script. The completed body of work really impresses me.
Flawsome explores the lives of four women as they navigate their personal and professional lives while being tied by the flawed yet unbreakable bonds they share: Ifeyinwa (Bisola Aiyeola), Ramat (Ini Dima-Okojie), Ivie (Sharon Ooja), and Dolapo (Enado Odigie). They put in a lot of effort, plan, experience love and breakups, and cultivate both big and tiny aspirations. One thing doesn't change despite the changes in their personal situations: their commitment to the hustle and one another.
Showmax is currently offering the first episode of Flawsome, with new episodes released every Thursday.
