Nigeria wins the bronze medal at the U-17 World Cup after defeating Germany.

Nigeria's U-17 women's team, the Flamingoes, won bronze in the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup after defeating Germany 3-2 on penalties.

After Germany's early goal was ruled out, the Flamingos' talisman, Opeyemi Ajakaye, opened the scoring.

Nigeria made every effort to double their lead before halftime, but the game will end with the Flamingos leading 1-0 at the break.

Aminat Bello then smashed home the second goal for Nigeria, and super sub Etim Edidiong added the third on 62 minutes to give the Flamingoes a comfortable three-goal lead.

That comfort, however, came back to haunt them as the Germans staged an incredible comeback to force a penalty shootout.

The Flamingos then won the shootout, defeating the Germans 3-2.

Bankole Olowookere's team finishing third is Nigeria's best finish in the competition's history.
