I will not play Black Adam in James Gunn's DC Universe "Dwayne Johnson"

For more than a week, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson remained silent as Henry Cavill announced his retirement as Superman as part of DC's new power structure. This phrase came true, but not in the way Johnson imagined as he repeated it. When James Gunn took over the entire studio, heads began to roll, beginning with Patty Jenkins. The Wonder Woman director decided to step down because Gunn's vision for DC did not align with hers. Then came Henry Cavill, who was gracious in his message to all Superman fans who were saddened by his departure.

Johnson was the one who pushed the most for Henry Cavill's return; his ex-wife is the British actor's agent. Johnson stopped following Warner Brothers on social media after the news broke, and everyone assumed he was upset about everything that had happened. His future as 'Black Adam' was suddenly hanging by a thread. We finally have some news, and Johnson does not appear to be giving up on telling the story of this character. As he explained to all of his social media followers, he has many reasons to keep fighting for it.

Dwayne Johnson confirmed on his social media that Black Adam will not be a part of the character's initial story. He stated: "I spoke with James Gunn, and Black Adam will not be included in their first chapter of storytelling. However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue investigating the most valuable uses for Black Adam in future DC multiverse chapters. James and I have known each other for many years and have always wished each other well. It's the same now, and I'll always write for DC (and Marvel) to win big."

The reason he isn't giving up is quite simple. Dwayne Johnson worked for 15 years to make 'Black Adam' a reality, and he finally succeeded in 2022. He is too invested in the character to simply abandon it because James Gunn does not want to include him at the moment. Johnson and James, on the other hand, sat down and came to an agreement. At the very least, Dwayne can keep his fingers crossed that the character will appear in future chapters of DC's overall story. Hopefully, he won't be an elderly man by then.
