According to multiple reports, unidentified shooters approached DJ Sumbody and his group's car on Woodmead Road and opened fire.
The disc jockey and one of his bodyguards were killed instantly by the bullets, while the third person, said to be one of DJ Sumbody's bodyguards, survived and is now in critical condition.
Gauteng police confirmed the attack and stated that they are looking for suspects and investigating the circumstances surrounding a gunshot in Woodmead.
Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo issued the following statement:"At around 12.30 a.m., police received a report of a shooting on Woodmead Drive. When police arrived on the scene, they discovered two people with gunshot wounds inside a VW Golf. On the scene, both victims, a driver and a passenger, were pronounced dead. According to reports, the third victim, who was driving a BMW X5, was taken to the nearest medical care facility after suffering gunshot wounds. Anyone with information that can aid in the investigation or the apprehending of the suspects is asked to call the crime stop number or report to the nearest police station. My SAPS App, which can be downloaded from any smartphone, can also be used to provide information anonymously."
It is still unknown why DJ Sumbody and his group were the targets of a horrific attack.
