Wizkid owes an apology to Nigerian rappers - Maskking

A singer, Prince Richards, aka Maskking, believes that pop star Ayodeji Balogun, aka Wizkid, owes an apology to Nigerian rappers for labeling them as broke and declaring that rap was dead.

Masking, who describes himself as a retro-afrobeat singer as well as an Afro-conscious philosopher and music producer, called the 'Essence' singer's statement depressing.

"I believe that we should be more loyal to our values than people," he said in a statement to Saturday Beats. People are often carried away by star power, rendering them unable to criticize a wrong most of the time. Because of their devotion, they are afraid to criticize the errors of their idols.

"Wizkid owes an apology to the Nigerian rap community and music fans. His recent remarks have left a lot to be desired.

"This is the person who recently stated that his final show would be in Lagos, the city that made him. His remarks were depressing."

Maintaining that being a well-known figure does not exempt one from making mistakes. "Does being a superstar exempt one from making mistakes?" he asked. There is no such thing as a perfect human being. I advise Nigerians to stop idolizing people and failing to see their flaws."
