Trevor Noah final farewell to The Daily Show.

Trevor Noah, a South African comedian and TV show host, has officially stepped down as the anchor of the American late-night show The Daily Show.

To many people's surprise, Trevor announced in September that he would be leaving the show at the end of the season.

The comedian said his final goodbyes with an emotional speech on Thursday. Trevor recalled his earlier days as the host, when there were not enough people to fill the audience.

"I'm grateful to each and every one of you," he said. "I'm overjoyed. When we first started the show, we couldn't get enough people to fill the seats."

Noah specifically thanked a black woman in his life, whom he described as the inspiration behind his "great ideas," in his emotional speech.

"This is random for some, but a special shout-out to Black women," he said. I've often been credited with these big ideas. People say, "Trevor, you're so smart." I say, "Who do you think teaches me?" Who do you believe shaped, nourished, and formed me? ’

"I always tell people that if they want to learn about America, they should talk to Black women." Black women, unlike everyone else, cannot afford to f**k and find out."

In 2015, the author of Born A Crime took over as host of the political-themed show. Before leaving, he hosted for seven seasons.

While his replacement has not been announced, the show will be anchored by a series of celebrity guest hosts at the start of the next season in January 2023.
