Celine Dion discloses battle with rare neurological disorder

Celine Dion, a popular Canadian singer, has revealed the reason for her long silence, stating that she is suffering from a rare neurological disorder known as Stiff-Person syndrome.

Celine Dion opened up about her heartbreaking battle with the life-changing diseases, which she describes as a "one-in-a-million" case.

As a result of this development, the singer has been forced to cancel her European tours scheduled for February 2023, as she wrote in the caption of her Instagram post announcing the situation.

"I've been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it's been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I've been going through...It hurts me to tell you that I won't be ready to restart my tour in Europe in February," she wrote.

In the announcement video, the singer revealed that the spasms are already affecting her day-to-day life. "Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I'm used to," she said.

As the name implies, the illness causes the muscles of the body to constrict, which worsens over time and eventually turns those who have it into statues who are frequently unable to move at all.

Dion assured that she is working closely with her medical team and that she has a lot of support from her close family.

The Oscar-winning singer announced in 2014 that she was putting her career on hold "indefinitely" while her husband René Angélil battled cancer and died in 2016.

Her brother, Daniel Dion, died unexpectedly in the same year (2016), forcing her to take a year off.

She eventually made a significant comeback in 2019 with the release of 'Courage,' her twelfth English-language and twenty-seventh studio album, which featured songs by Sia, Sam Smith, StarGate, Jimmy Napes, Lauv, LP, Jörgen Elofsson, and many others.
