Prsident Mohammadu, has approved N134.7 billion for the Security Debarment Allowance (SDA) to all veterans.
Buhari, who made the announcement on Wednesday, also assured Nigerians that when he leaves office in 2023, he will leave a safer country.
The President gave the assurance on Wednesday during the launch of the Emblem Appeal for the 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in the Presidential Villa's Council Chambers in Abuja.
The President also announced a N10 million donation to the appeal fund and urged all Nigerians, as well as corporate organizations, to assist veterans and families of fallen heroes whose sacrifices have kept the country together in the past.
Speaking at the event, which preceded the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, the President pledged the Federal Government's commitment to the welfare of veterans by ensuring prompt payment of their pension and other entitlements, as evidenced by his approval of SDA payments to veterans beginning in 2017.
