Joseph Mersa-Marley, a Jamaican-American reggae artist, died on Tuesday at the age of 31.
According to the streaming service TIDAL, the musician was discovered unresponsive in a vehicle in the United States on Tuesday.
According to the Daily Mail, the artist, who went by the stage name Jo Mersa, had suffered from asthma his entire life and died as a result of an asthma attack.
He was the grandson of Bob Marley, the legendary reggae musician, and the son of Stephen Marley.
Bob tragically died of cancer at the age of 36 in 1981, but he is widely regarded as a pioneer of reggae music. The late actress had 11 children from seven different relationships.
The Daily Mail reports that it has contacted Joseph's representatives for comment.
Marley was born in Jamaica and attended Saints Peter and Paul Preparatory School. He then relocated to Florida, where he attended Palmetto High School. He studied studio engineering at Miami Dade College.
In 2014, he released the EP Comfortable, and in 2021, he released Eternal.
A new film about Bob Marley is in the works.
Kingsley Ben-Adir will play the legendary singer in the film, which will be directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green and produced by Rita, her and Bob's son Ziggy, and daughter Cedella Marley.
